I have so far signed foreign pub deals with companies in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, France, Germany, China, and Japan. Finally seeing a couple of final results. Here are the Hungarian and Czech versions of We Are Legion

Wow, have you traveled back in time to get a deal in Czechoslovakia?

It amazes me this still happens after 25 years! Dissolution to the Czech Republic and Slovakia was in 1993… and they speak two languages, so it would have to be two separate translated books. LOL!

I bet the translators had fun. I wonder if there were any concepts that were harder to translate than others?

My parents were both Swahili interpreters and one thing that I remember was the difficulty they had translating around mental health issues, which were not culturally (and therefore linguistically) acknowledged.

Any Idea when the German Version will be released? I would love to get it for my father but he doesn’t want to read the English version.

    1. I’m going by memory, but I believe it is early summer, possibly June.

Thanks! I saw that it’s out on Amazon on July 9th 18 (“ich bin viele” bobiverse 1) my father’s birthday is today so I ordered it for next week. 🙂 Looking forward to seeing how the translation turned out!

I work as the science fiction editor at Editions Bragelonne in France, and I’m pleased to announce that the French translation of Book 1 of the Bobiverse series, NOUS SOMMES LEGION (We Are Legion) will be published on here on 13 June. I’m right in the middle of copy-editing Book 2 for release in September, and Book 3 is due out in March 2019. The translator, Sebastien Baert, and I are having great fun with these. You can view the cover and basic info for Book 1 on our website:

Actually, I have a technical question for you, Dennis, concerning the use of “tau”. Throughout the series, you seem to indicate that tau increases as a traveler approaches the speed of light. But other authors, and I’m thinking here primarily of Poul Anderson and his magnificent novel, TAU ZERO, maintain the opposite, that the tau factor drops to zero as you approach c. So we’re somewhat puzzled by the discrepancy. My linguistic skills are well-honed, but I confess that I’m a little rusty when it comes to physics. I’d be grateful if you could elucidate. I’ve provided your website with my e-mail address if you prefer to contact me directly. Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.

    1. As mentioned in my email response, whether you reference tau as the Lorentz value or the inverse Lorentz value is just a question of preference. One approaches zero, the other approaches infinity.

Curious, does the publishers give a rationale / explanation for why they decide to change the cover art from country to country?..

    1. The publisher in each country makes their own decision about that. It baffles me, too, but maybe some styles just won’t fly in some cultures.

    Hi Mr. Taylor.
I am Filippus, big fan of yours from Iceland. The Bobiverse is my favorite book series, I read it every year, sometimes twice.
I was wondering if I might make an attempt at translating it into Icelandic?
I am not an official translator or anything just so that is clear. I just really like the book and know some people that might be interested in it but they need it in Icelandic.
Hope you are all good over there. Stay safe 🙂

    1. That is a question you would have to take up with my agent. I think I have my books in 13 different languages now, so he might even be in negotiations with a publisher there.

  1. A friend of mine wants to read it but she’d prefer if the book is translated in Chinese, you mentioned China but I can’t seem to find it for Kindle, any Idea when the German Version will be released?
