Where’s Outland?

Some people have noticed that Outland is no longer available on Amazon. I have un-published Outland and am currently engaged in a significant re-edit. Once I’m done, it’ll be re-published, hopefully by the end of summer 2018.

Update: Pub date is set as May 16th 2019.

Will the people who have already purchased outland receive the updated version?

    1. That will depend on Amazon. If they allow the new book to be an “update” to the current one, then yes. Otherwise we’d have to create a new Amazon entry. I’d love to keep all my reviews and such, but in the latter case I’d lose those as well.

Either way is fine for me. I’ll gladly buy it again. I’ll just treat my original as a First Edition.

Hoping for a sequel. But regardless, more alternate history/parallel universe books, please.

I was so thrilled with your Bobiverse series that I just ordered a used hardcover copy of Outland from Ablebooks.com. I hope that with all of your revisions, that won’t change the basic story too significantly.

I truly look forward to your future literary efforts.

    Regards,

    Bruce

I thoroughly enjoyed the Bobiverse books. I especially liked the way you ended the series. It just felt right.

I then got and read the Kindle version of Outland. I did enjoy it, though not as much as the Bobiverse. I do, however, have one question/comment. I believe a stable population requires something like 10,000 individuals (I certainly could be significantly off). It appears that you have only a fraction of this size and I do not see how you will easily increase it. Perhaps that will be addressed in the revision. I look forward to reading it.

    1. Some estimates place the low point for the human species at less than a thousand individuals. In any case, the people in Rivendell aren’t the “last people on Earth”, just the ones that have been rescued so far. There will be a lot more along those lines in book 2.

Loved IT! A Spoof a Day makes for a Happy Day! Waiting for Book Two!!! Book One was Good Enough to Please–BUT sure, I’ll enjoy re-reading the story!

Wish You could bring your snowboard to Bansko, or even the schoolyard across the street here in Bulgaria! Wc

  1. Holy crap, I sure am glad I read it when I did (just a month or two ago). Tremendous job for a first novel–lots of characters, clever contrivances to sneak in pop culture references, and a plot that evolves a lot over the course of the book. I look forward to the revision. When it’s finished, do you anticipate that an audio version might be produced?

    1. I have a contract with Audible to produce Outland and the sequel in audio.

I loved Outland and have been awaiting the sequel. I get the Audible version of Outland when it’s out. So, when is that going to be?

    1. Don’t know yet. Still in edits.

Here is to encouraging you to finish the edits on Outland (I enjoyed it the first time, and will enjoy a re-read) and to seriously encourage bringing out the sequel. Two years is a long time to wait for the story to continue.

By the way, if you need a beta reader to find typos and/or story inconsistencies, I provide this service to a couple of other authors.

I love We are Bob and Outland (which we need more of). Quit computer programming and write, we need more! Really keep up the good work. First SiFi book I read was “DO androids dream of electric sheep” By PKD when it came out and was hooked. Your ideas are joy to read

What does “in edits” mean time wise? Dec? Jan? Feb?

        1. I just finished with this round of edits. My editor is on vaca for part of Dec, so not much will happen this month anyway. It’ll probably take January for the last few back-and-forths, then Outland will be queued up for production. A major variable there is Ray Porter’s schedule, but we generally assume 3-4 months. So it looks like late spring early summer at the moment.

As I’ve mentioned on more than one occasion, my estimates tend to be optimistic. So far, my original estimates on Outland and Bender look to be about 3 months optimistic.

I just finished listening to Outland, and I’m hooked! Have listened twice to the Bobiverse series. Re Outland, please tell me that someone is going to start scavenging BOOKS?!

Still no kindle – I saw it popped up on audible and just finished listening. But I wanted to go back and pull out some quotes to post when recommending the book. There is a quote in there about how sometimes you need to mock someone to get them to re-think bad reasoning. Any help with the quote from the book?

    1. Sometimes mockery is the only way to get people to think about what they’re saying

    Thanks for the entertainment.
