And Going Strong

It’s now ten days later. And I am completely boggled. Legion is taking off–as I write this, the book is #2778 on the Amazon Kindle Sales Rank. I keep doing spontaneous happy dances, which gets me odd looks.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words, especially those who have taken the time to post on my site. I think the worst thing that could happen to a writer is having their work sink without a trace. Seems to me that would be even worse than bad reviews. At least with the latter, you’re getting attention and some feedback to use to improve.

Because Legion is published through a publisher’s account, I don’t have access to the sales figures and KENP numbers. All I can do is use the Amazon sales rank, and the Kindle Calculator. The ranking gets updated every hour, between half-past and twenty-to. And yeah, I’m checking my numbers obsessively. Maybe I should try getting something done, instead. 🙁

I’m doing some final edits on Legion #2 (For We Are Many) and will try to get it into the pipeline for publishing in the next couple of weeks. The lead time for Amazon e-books is fairly short, but for Audible it’s, um, significant. And yes, I’m going to wait for Ray Porter’s schedule to free up. I think everyone’s on the same page on that subject.

Looking forward to the next book. Any plans at promoting? book signing? etc etc?

And i am happy to inform you that I’m already working on what threat we going to use to make you rush out the third book. For we are many, we want Bob.

    1. No specific plans, yet. I’m still dealing with Legion doing as well as it is. I have another book that I’ve been working on (The Singularity Trap) that I just need to get through final edits, and I can punt off to my agent. Then cleanups on For We Are Many, same treatment, and finish off All These Worlds (Legion #3)

Then I have the sequel to Outland about half written, and that’ll be the next project to complete.

  1. Hey! This book is really good!

I just finished the Audible edition. The performer was great. As a software person currently crunching (game art), I must thank you for that which keeps me at the computer.

You are clearly Earth’s mightiest champion.

  2. Excellent book, great reader on Audible. Thank you!

  3. Dude. That was a fun as hell read (listen). I downloaded the audiobook on a whim yesterday to have something to listen to on the bus to and from work for a while – it’s been difficult finding time to actually read lately. Unfortunately (for my work and tomorrow’s bus ride), I couldn’t stop listening. Even when I got home, I decided to do a huge backlog of chores just so I could keep listening while still feeling productive. Kudos on creating such a funny, thought-provoking, genius Bobiverse. I can’t wait for the next installment, which I think I will definitely have to do through audible, assuming you use Ray Porter again. He was absolutely perfect.
I shall now go promote you through social media 🙂
PS, as a biologist, I gotta say that I was really impressed with how you handled all the biology. That’s usually where most space/physics/ai/computer/etc-heavy sci-fi pisses me off, which you completely failed to do.

I wanted you to know that I VERY MUCH enjoyed your BOB vision and story. Additionally, I listen on Audible as I have a long commute daily and the performer, Ray Porter..WOW! he really nailed it. It’ll be well worth the wait, I’ll be right there getting it as soon as it’s available.

Excellent work sir, by far the best I’ve run across in a fair bit in the genre.

Thank You and looking forward to more!

Have to know. Did you ask for Ray or was he ‘assigned’?

    Best Regards from Ohio USA

    1. He was assigned–I had no clue at the time. But I’ve asked for him for #2 & # 3.

I never do this, but I just wanted to tell how thoroughly I am enjoying the Audible version of “We Are Legion” it has resulted in many hearty change ckles and laugh out loud moments and I am enjoying it immensely. Looking forward eagerly to the next installment. Maybe that should read impatiently. Sigh, thats why I dislike starting a New series that doesn’t have at least a few books, oh well.

Will be ordering you a set of shackles and manacles to chain you to your computer soon. We are many and we demand output replicant!

    Thanks.

    Two other things…

    1) Suggestion – make the ship killers a proximity weapon like you did the once already…much more useful with two modes amirite?

    2) Make the people who want to take all humans out be Canadian! 🙂

Seriously, loved the work. Can’t wait for more.

Rammer. By Larry niven. Written in the sixties or seventies. VERY similar premise. Have you read it?

    1. Sure. It’s the first chapter of A World Out Of Time. Which goes in a completely different direction.

I am so thoroughly enjoying We are Legion! I am currently listening to it on Audible. I initially bought this as a book I can listen to on my commute but now I find myself just listening to it while doing household chores!! The performer on Audible Ray Porter did an excellent job! I can’t wait for the second and third and fourth etc! I hope you are extremely successful and keep cranking out a Legion of books!

I just finished Bob on audio, and I wanted to buy a physical copy of it for myself, and one for a friend. But, there is no physical copy. Any plans to come out with a hardcover or paperback version? Please?

    1. The paperback was supposed to be out this week. There may be some unexpected issue. I’ll follow up.
