Well, That was Suboptimal

As I write this, there are about a dozen comments awaiting moderation, pointing out that All These Worlds is missing the last dozen or so chapters. Not really the debut I was hoping for. 🙁

I’ve already contacted Audible, and they’re aware of the problem. They’re working on it, they say it’ll be fixed this morning some time, and they’ll have the fixed version uploaded. You’ll be able to re-download the book at that time.

My apologies for this issue. This is like buying a book and discovering the last page has been ripped out.

Don’t feel bad. There is nothing that you could have done to keep this from happening. Audible’s QA should have caught this. People crying and posting low reviews are just throwing temper tantrums. Your still my Favorite author and it’s all about enjoying the ride.

    1. Thanks. Audible has promised to remove the postings about the missing chapters once the thing is fixed. The fact that audible already knew about the issue when I emailed them tends to indicate that they might pay attention to a slew of one-stars, especially on a new release.
Between this and the mispronunciations in book 1, I think I’m going to talk to them about giving me an advance copy of any future books, just for proofreading, er, listening.

I agree about the low reviews. Instead of a review, try contacting support. When I contacted support they said there were no reports of an issue and clearly I was not the first to see the problem. More people reporting the problem to support is the way to get it fixed, not posting a poor review about a technical problem.

      1. By the time I got up (I’m on the west coast), they were in full damage control. It got done.

I have not been able to sleep since I finished the second book. I was so excited this morning. I go to audible and see the comments. I almost start to cry. But now i’m hopeful since you said Audible knows and have fixed the issue. Thank God (Bob).

  1. Thanks for posting and letting us know it is being worked on! I’m sure as an author it is a bummer when a technical glitch hurts your reviews…good luck I wish you the best!

Hi not your fault but do you know how to update if you’ve brought the audiobook through iTunes? It looks like it wants to charge me again.

On chapter 12 at the moment and it’s just as great as the first two books

What should the correct running time be?

    1. 7h 55m

Just a heads-up that Audible’s email was sorted by Google into my “Promotions” mail box, which makes it a lot less likely to be viewed. You might be in for a few more angry listeners/poor reviews before people figure it out.

Oh thank the gods. I came here looking for book 4, cuz that’s not an acceptable place to end this story. Almost gave me a freaking heart attack. Thanks for writing a book that I’m THAT invested in.

No worries. It’s fixed and it just … what … a day or two? No big deal, I’ve just waited til the dust settled. For me, this was the first time I’d pre-ordered a book. I was hooked on Bobiverse 1 and 2; 3 was coming out so shortly after 2 — it’s not like we had to wait a year or two — that I wanted to make sure I had it in my queue. Now to go download it. Looking forward to my commute for the next several days. 🙂

Is there no Whispersync in the third book? My favorite thing is switching between reading and listening as the situation allows. I got both versions but it dose not appear to support Whispersync in the third book.

Dannnnngggg i just spent a good 30 minutes thinking, holy crap there’s no way that’s how this book ends… Glad there is more, downloading again now.

Don’t worry Dennis, Audible patched it this evening – UK time. Look forward to listening to the ‘missing’ chapters on my way home from work on Friday (it’s a two hour drive – should cover it). Always look at the positives. I thought you were going for a curiously titled five part trilogy involving a cat somewhere but then I reasoned, you wouldn’t do something that had been done before nor imitate a classic. I was thinking ‘so long and thanks for all the Busters’.

Dennis, I love your books and am now a fan. I love the first two in the series. I just purchased ATW and am downloading now.
I have been a member of Audible for 9 years or so. I think I may have had a problem years ago…however I called them, they were friendly, and whatever it was, been so long now I cannot remember, they fixed it immediately. All the folks that have their knickers in a knot…Audible has excellent customer service, so chill and give them a chance to fix the issue. Oh and I have over 1000 Audible books…that’s a lot of audible books with only one glitch over the years.
This is a great series and the narration is wonderful.

Thank you for many enjoyable hours listening to your stories.

Oh thank God. I just finished what was downloaded and was PISSED. Especially since everything I could find said THIS was the conclusion. Deleted and redownloading now.

Just finished ATW. Very well done and honestly a great wrap up to some of the main storylines. Only criticism is towards the end there most of the bobs individual personalities seemed to get a little hidden. It makes sense with the nature of the last third of the book but at this point I hardly remember who is who aside from some of the original and primary focus ones. Maybe for future books some literary reminder of their backstory.
